A letter to the village

July gave me sand between my toes and, at the very same time, gave our whole field a courtroom to watch. Both taught me something about why this work cannot wait.

On the building side, July kept moving. Both BloombHealthServices.com and TalkToBloomb.com got real updates this month. We signed an official partnership with Phoenix Health for perinatal counseling referrals. And we applied for two RFPs that pushed us somewhere I am genuinely excited about: extending our "care for the caregiver" work to reach caregivers of autistic children, not only new mothers.

This month also put a hard question in front of the entire perinatal community, as a Massachusetts jury began hearing the case of Lindsay Clancy. A quick note on that is below.

And then, in the middle of all of it, I turned a year older on Sanibel Island, and it turned into more than a birthday trip. I went there on the edge of burnout, brought only my daughter, and came home having relearned something about rest, attention, and what this whole village is actually for. More on that below too, because it is the part I most want to share this month.

Both websites, refreshed
BloombHealthServices.com and TalkToBloomb.com both received meaningful updates this month. Two front doors, both worth walking through.

Applied for two RFPs — and a new product was born from it
Preparing these proposals pushed us to extend our "care for the caregiver" model beyond new mothers, to include caregivers who care for autistic children. That work didn't just extend an RFP. It birthed Clover, a new support avenue built specifically for autism caregivers, standing alongside Bloomb under the Bloomb Health Services umbrella.

Growing our doula network
Our doula network continues to expand. More trusted people, in more places, means more mothers can find their way to Bloomb through someone they already know and trust.

Building the village around us.

Every partnership this month brings referrals, credibility, and one more door mothers can walk through when they ask for help.

Official partnership with Phoenix Health
We signed an official partnership with Phoenix Health for perinatal counseling referrals. This gives mothers in our network a direct, credible line to clinical support when they need more than Bloomb alone can offer.

Looking for partners in Atlanta
If either of our RFPs comes through, we want Atlanta ready. We are actively looking for local partners there to support the "care for the caregiver" work ahead of an award. If you know the right people, we would love an introduction.

A trial the field is watching.

A Massachusetts jury is currently hearing the case of Lindsay Clancy, on trial for the deaths of her three children while her defense says she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis. No verdict yet. What has struck birth workers and advocates most is how many channels she reportedly went through asking for help before it happened. It is a hard reminder of why the safety net Bloomb is building has to actually hold.

If you or someone you love is struggling with a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, please reach out to Postpartum Support International's helpline or a trusted healthcare provider.
In the Wild

What the tide gave back.

My trip to Sanibel Island was a desperate attempt to avoid burnout. Like a lot of moms, I had pushed past the point where I should have stopped and asked for a break, so I demanded one instead. Sanibel obliged: the whole island is built from thousands of years of shells 🐚 the tide never took back, and my daughter and I spent hours combing the beach for them, abundance everywhere, a dolphin 🐬 even cruised by to say hello, insects included.

I brought only her, and left my boys home. Somewhere between two brothers and a newborn, she had quietly been getting less of me, so this trip was hers. I invited my mother-in-law along too, for real "nana time," and watching the two of them make memories turned out to be more fulfilling than anything I did for myself. That is the spirit behind Bloomb too.

A few days of real stillness, no plans, no schedule, and something clicked: I love what I do. I didn't need to escape my life, only to rest inside it, and I came home certain I am exactly where I'm supposed to be. My husband needs this too, so we've started planning one-day getaways close to home, just enough quiet for each of us to recharge.

🐚 🌊 🐬

Stillness didn't make me want to run from my life. It showed me I was already home.

Sanibel Island — sunrises, sunsets, nana time, and a daughter who finally had me all to herself.

What would change if more mothers let themselves demand the rest they need before burnout demands it for them? Bloomb exists to help make that possible.

With gratitude for being here, Damie
